puceAcne Treatment

Aesthera PPx/Isolaz was approved by the FDA to treat Acne back in 2006. It has been approved for all four types of acne, which are classified as:

Acne vulgaris is the commonest form of acne. Acne vulgaris legions include whiteheads, blackheads, papules (inflamed red lumps without a head) and pustules (appears as a red circle with a white or yellow head). In severe cases of acne vulgaris, nodules and cysts can appear. A nodule is a large, hard bump under the skin, which can be painful and long lasting (e.g. a few months is not uncommon). They can leave scars and should definitely never be squeezed. An acne cyst is similar in appearance to a nodule, but is defined as being filled with pus with a diameter of at least 5mm. Again, these cysts should not be squeezed as this can lead to a deeper and longer lasting infection, and a greater likelihood of scarring.

Aesthera PPx / Isolaz is the only light system which has been approved for the treatment of comedonal acne. Comedonal acne is a type of acne where the majority of the lesions are blackheads (open comedones) or whiteheads (closed comedones).

No pre-treatment is required, ie no anaesthetic or treatments to numb the skin, as the procedure is pain free. In addition, the skin's pores are unblocked. The vacuum action brings the sebaceous glands closer to the surface, enabling them to be cleaned and giving the skin a rejuvenated appearance.

Isolaz is the only acne therapy to combine vacuum suction and broadband light to simulateneously deep cleanse and purify pores. It was rated one of the three hottest products of 2007 at the American Academy of Dermatology Conference.

puceClinical Trial

In clinical trials, over 88% of acne was cleared in the patients tested. Of the patients tested, 64% had not responded positively to the use of topical creams or oral antibiotics, and in these patients, 75% of acne was cleared. In addition, acne lesions were visibly improved in less than 48 hours after treatment.
