Hair Removal
Hair removal is a very popular procedure. Many women enjoy the agony of regular waxing to remove hair from underarms, bikini line and legs. Many men also submit to waxing of their chests and backs, so the thought of not having to endure another of these sessions is particularly appealing.
This is where Aesthera PPx comes in. Aesthera PPx is the only FDA approved treatment for the removal of hair.
Clinical Trial
Hair removal using Aesthera PPx was tested in a prospective, single blind study. The study demonstrated the safety and effectiveness of Aesthera PPx as a long lasting system for the removal of unwanted hair. The average amount of hair removed after nine months and between five and six treatments was nearly 90%.
In addition, 37% of the patients in the trial had previously tried other methods of laser hair removal. No less than 100% of these patients said that they were "extremely satisfied" with the Aesthera PPx method of hair removal, and would rate it more highly than alternative methods of laser hair removal.
One patient had suffered from excess hair for years on her arms and upper lip. Shaving left her sore and waxing caused lumps to develop from ingrowing hairs. She has previously endured six laser hair removal treatments, which had made little difference. She found that the PPx system actually worked, and what's more it was pain free. The other laser hair removal systems she had tried caused a certain amount of discomfort.
How does it work?
The photopneumatic technology - photo means light and pneumatic means vacuum. During a PPX session, a handpiece is put directly onto the skin. The vacuum draws the hair covered skin towards the treatment tip, and a light (that causes no pain) is applied. This light is highly targetted and so about five times more photons hit the target area. Hence less energy can be used, making the treatment safe and pain free.
